Even though there is no Captain America movie or TV-series yet, it appears that he's going to have a good year in the toy scene! These pictures from the Toy Faire 2006 (courtesy of figures.com) give us an idea of what the CA and related figure hunts are going to be like this year!
First off we have the Marvel Figure Factory, little dioramas featuring Marvel characters (IIRC, there is some assembly required, but not a whole lot). The Captain America figure features Cap running forward, carrying an American flag over his shoulder!
Second is the Captain America entries in the "Face Off" line, which features a Marvel hero and one of his arch-enemies. The normal figure is Captain America and the Red Skull, and if the display figures are anything like the release figures, they're very detailed and exceptionally well-done. The chase/rare Captain America features Captain America unmasked, and instead of the Red Skull we have the infamous Baron Von Strucker!
Third, we have a Captain America figure in the large-scale "Icons" line, and boy, is it a beauty!
Then there are the Marvel Legends releases, which are, as usual, top-notch. There are a few Cap-related figures coming out in the 2006 releases (Mojo, Meek, and Onslaught lines), including Baron Zemo I, the Falcon, potential love interests Ms. Marvel and Spider-Woman, and an incredible version of M.O.D.O.K. !
Finally, there is another entry featuring Cap in the Marvel Covers series, where they recreate famous covers - note the Captain America figure giving Galactus a stubbed toe!
Also worth mentioning is the Giant Man line of Marvel figures, which is exclusive to to Wal-Mart; while no direct Captain America figutes per se, there are several Avengers, including a stunning Janet Van Dyne (although she has long hair, something I don't ever recall seeing on the Wasp...).
